What

 DirecTV Streaming uses your home internet to deliver TV service. Residential customers can choose from different channel packages and prices. You can watch through the DirecTV app on most streaming devices, or use the Gemini device with a traditional remote and channel numbers.

 

Why

Surry Communications and Piedmont Communications is in the process of removing their traditional video services. 

The cost to broadcast local channels, regional and national sport channels and all other channels continue to rise for a provider with less than 4,000 video subscribers, even when partnering with other similar sized companies across the United States. 

DirecTV Streaming is a TV service that works through a customer’s existing High-speed internet connection. It gives subscribers the same trusted DirecTV experience without needing a satellite dish.

When

Our video customers can contact our CSR team to start the conversion from traditional Surry video service to DirecTV streaming now!

But we also have a planned schedule to turn down our video services.  Our customers will receive mailers, phone calls or emails about the timeframe of video service turndown in their community.

Our local customer service team will help customers choose the best package. After sign-up, DirecTV will mail them a Gemini streaming device and remote with simple step-by-step setup instructions if this is the route the customer selected.   If needed, Surry Communications technicians can install the device for a hourly service fee.  DirecTV bills customers directly each month for their streaming service.
